The department sets itself apart in firefighter fitness evidenced by the department’s numerous World Combat Challenge Championships.
Together these two designations are held by less than one-quarter of one percent of fire departments nationwide. In 2022, Montgomery Fire/Rescue became the first metropolitan department in the state to achieve International Accreditation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International.
